POST MAN

Post Man  is inspired by 'Deliverance', a story by Jess Hyslop.

It's 2050. The government's total surveillance of electronic communication means that the postal service has become the only means of preserving privacy and freedom.

An underground army of postmen and women have gathered, enabling contact between lovers, protesters and fugitives. But who else is using this service as a conduit? What if a single package contains the worst imaginable? And what happens when a reluctant hero begins to ask himself the same questions?

We have been catapulted into the future to find a world where pen and ink has become as precious as flesh and blood. A world not so very different from our own.

Post Man underwent a first phase of R+D with Gyuri Sarossy and Jess Murphy in December 2013.
Then from February 2014 Jess Barker-Wren, Pablo Navarro-Maclochlainn and Molly Carroll picked up the baton, rehearsing in an old house full of old clothes and drawers of letters. Post Man was presented in a showing at Lost Theatre, Lambeth in May 2014.
