The Future is Boring - by Leigh/ Obolewicz/ O'Connor
The Future is Boring emerged from our R+D on Something Else. It is a game in which our explorations into digital surveillance and its effects on personal and political communications, are made immediate for an audience of participants. They are invited to answer questions and write them on pieces of paper. Recorded instructions control the movement of papers and people around the room, creating a space throughout which secrets are dispersed.
This piece will undergo future development, and we have plans to include a Documentary element and a Dystopian element, as additional layers to the Game.
It was trialled at a scratch night curated by Coney at Camden People's Theatre on 29th November 2015.
At the end of this trial, the audience were given the choice to take away the secrets they had collected, or to join us in burning them in a bucket on the street.
